Fudging figures..

Alas Whispers missed the official launch for the exciting new cook book Conversations in The Kitchen authored by radio host Alan Jones and former Labor Party leader Mark Latham who has forsaken his former left leaning comrades and veered well and truly to the far right via various steps beginning with Sky News and now The Rebel Media. (you can read more about Latham here).

In the meantime a minor twitter dispute has broken out between Jones' critic Mike Carlton (who coined the term The Parrot to describe Jones) and publicist for the book, the effervescent Max Markson (last seem shepherding the strange Milo Yiannopoulos around town).
Markson claims the book has sold 6000 copies. "Not so" declares Carlton- at best 89 copies as the official figures shows.
We're not taking sides in this dispute having met all parties involved !

Meanwhile the wondrous MailOnline / Daily Mail is still having problems identifying colourful characters. As we revealed some time ago they mistook the Aussie actress Little Nell of Rocky Horror picture fame for the mother of British comedian Tracey Ullman.

Now they've discovered Lucy Turnbull, wife of our industrious Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull may have jumped into a time machine and found her teenage self to accompany Mal to the recent charity Gold Dinner.
It's a serious subject but the Mail recently posted this caption on the figures of male suicide in the UK. Rubbery figures surely ?

Popbitch bloopers

We can't be too hard on the internet gossipy website Popbitch which can be a lot of fun at times although we get slightly irritated with what seems an obsession with bodily functions and the size or otherwise of "celebrity" private parts. After all Whispers has supplied them with the odd snippet over the years but how did they make mistakes like these two when the facts are so easily verified?
Such as this:

Max (right) is a Sydney based publicist whose office is a 5 minute walk from Whispers. Having been there numerous times we should know.  Perhaps a clue is in the billing Max gives himself as: Australia's Premier Publicist !
And this:

Something stinks and Russell Crowe isn't happy

Tweeted by Russell Crowe :

from Woolloomooloo to past Stanley St up to hyde park, the whole area pongs of diesel fuel. Apparently a spill at Garden Island. about 1 hour ago via web .

Russell's view

Wooloomooloo Wharf
Russell's new view ?
It's one of the drawbacks of living on the Woolloomooloo Wharf as north facing residents discovered long ago. Directly opposite is the Garden Island naval base and when the ships are in the smell of diesel wafts over. And it's not healthy for the kids either.

spotted at Seven Shillings Beach
Via Veneta
Perhaps that's why Crowe and family were spotted checking out this 1950's Point Piper mansion on Seven Shillings Beach on Monday.

Despite a rumour that swept the property market, Crowe did not purchase Via Veneta in the same suburb that sold for a record $60M this week.

Our guest snapper Stephen Fry

Fry's Sydney Opera House appearances have been a sell-out success. Last night he celebrated by dining with Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton at Aria.
Today he is filming in Cronulla-the scene of the infamous race riots in 2006 - for a BBC documentary on language. Let's hope he understands the locals.

..and let's not forget Max Markson in Rome !

Travels with Max

Twittering Max Markson is in Rome. We thought it was quiet in town. Some pics from our favourite celebrity publicist's travels via twitter:

TigerGate # 2

It had to happen.

tSS's favourite celebrity spruiker Max Markson has nabbed a piece of the Tiger Wood's juggernaut and signed up Las Vegas cocktail waitress, the delightfully named Jaimee Grubbs. Grubbs (right) first media appearance is a saucy photo shoot in the high brow English mag Zoo to be published this Tuesday.

Max has a few helpful words for Tiger to repair his image :"a stint in rehab for sex addiction like Michael Douglas" and some serious interviews on 60 Minutes, Oprah and Larry King. Max gets 20% of the take for this stuff.

Born in Bournemouth in the UK, Max failed his A-level exams, left school and began promoting pop groups and BBC Radio One disc jockeys, sold saucepans from a market stall in Shepherds Bush and finally ended up in Oz selling political slogan t-shirts. Now he's the antipodean answer to England's Max Clifford, representing sports stars and just about anyone who happens to hit the headlines, as long as there is a dollar to be made.

some of Max's clients:

left to right : Corey Delaney,  Bill Clinton,  George Bush Snr,  Mick Gatto ,Cherie Blair,
Maria Venuti

twittering on...

Masterminding the new media career of Melbourne underworld figure-or 'building consultant'. Mick Gatto-is the PR supremo Max Markson who spent the entire lunch Gatto threw for a few pals yesterday at the Woolloomooloo Wharf texting and twittering the latest updates on Gatto's next move.

Max twitters

Markson hales from Shepherd's Bush in London where he once sold saucepans at a market stall, apparently successfully with his brilliant gift of the gab before he emigrated to Australia in his early 20s. He has since built an amazing publicity and management company-Markson Sparks.

No client is too lowly or grand for Max. From errant 17 year old party-boy Corey Delaney who had 1000 gatecrashers cause havoc at the shindig he threw whilst home alone-grabbing headlines worldwide, to Bill Clinton, Cherie Blair wife of the former British PM and recently the American boxer Sugar Ray Robinson.

Markson has built himself a magnificent palace in Dover Heights just up from Bondi Beach with splendid views out to sea and a cliffside pool that seemingly hangs right over the edge of the 200 metre drop to the rocks below. Never one to miss a trick, you can hire Max's house for a party or product launch for around $15000 a pop.

Now news comes of a former client who has apparently been spotted on day release from the 7 year sentence imposed in 2006 for operating a Ponzi scheme and ripping off a few hundred members of his local Assyrian community-the ebullient Karl Suleman who cut a swathe-if only a short one-through society as he passed himself off as a high-flying financier. He was certainly high flying at various stages-paying $100,000 to lunch with Bill Clinton at a charity bash and then flying the former US president to Melbourne in a Lear jet purchased with a bouncing cheque.

                                                                     Suleman & Bush (c)

Suleman-or Soloman as he was listed at one Jewish charity event, also hosted former US president George Bush Snr at a few parties before the law caught up with him.

As for the former clients who all lost fortunes in his bogus finance company-the local Assyrians who are  Christian Iraqis and are pretty upset about their lost savings-they aren't feeling terribly forgiving at this stage and word is they are planning their own special greeting for Karl when he finally emerges from jail.
