Blast from the Past

 
 Mick and Di Kershaw are two of the stars of Googlebox which has taken the Aussie viewers by storm. Googlebox picked up another Logie at this year's Melbourne glittering TV awards as the best 'Factual' program.
 Noticeable absent were the stars of the show at the event as producers have decided to keep them away from red carpet openings so the 'stars' don't overshadow the actual program which consists of various families commenting on a range of TV shows in a formula that has proved a winner.
That hasn't stopped the producers from extracting every bit of publicity

they can from the various stars such as distributing this wedding photo of the Kershaws who are dealers in  Indigenous art.

But nothing escapes the eagle eyes of Whispers. Ferreting around on Youtube we came across an Aussie TV show from 1961and the top local pop show at the time, The Johnny O'Keffe Show.

And there in the background smiling as Barry Stanton sings with the occasional giggle is our Gogglebox Star Di Kershaw.

And doesn't she look fab ?. And it was only 56 years ago . Wow.

You have to love YouTube and the way it has become an outlet for creativity from the much maligned Justin Bieber (must say that-my niece adores him) to our Hill Billy dance vid below. Here is the latest operatic offering from Brisbane based composer Rob Davidson and choir Australian Voices with Julia Gillard's famous misogyny speech put to music : Not Now, Not Ever .

Stalking A High Profile Lawyer

"Media Stalking"

One of Sydney’s best known criminal lawyers, Christopher Murphy says he has a stalker and has appealed for help in tracking down the man’s identity.

Murphy has posted two videos on YouTube of a man silently standing on the street corner very near Murphy’s home, holding what looks to be a professional TV camera but with no identifying markers.

It’s fairly clear watching the videos that the lawyer appears to be in some distress as he urges the man to leave him and his family alone He says his wife and young children are too frightened to leave home.

While TV and media crews can be alarming at the best of times, it’s the silence of the cameraman that makes his presence decidedly creepy. Standing silently and continually focus his camera upon Murphy does send a certain chill down the bones.

Chris Murphy has previously written columns for newspapers and handled cases for some pretty high profile celebrities including the hapless actor Matt Newton currently on a charge of allegedly striking taxi driver.

A prolific twitterer with over 2000 followers (he was introduced to twitter by Russell Crowe) Murphy has been correcting the more sensational reporting on Newton’s movements including the claim he was at a children’s party the night before the alleged taxi incident happened.

Newton, a talented and gifted actor has some serious problems with a psychiatric illness and despite the PM Julia Gillard recently appointing Mark Butler to the ministry portfolio of Mental Health and bringing him into Cabinet and state premier Barry O'Farrell appointing a mental health minister after revealing his own family problems, some journalists still don’t get it.

One tabloid writer outrageously suggested Newton should be ‘bashed' by members of the public after an incident with actress Rachael Taylor. More recently the Daily Terror has been musing on whether the actor has a future in the industry. Surely not a discussion that's very helpful for a person who is still recovering from health problems.

It's another classic example of the power of the net that has seen Justin Beiber, Cody Simpson and Christian The Lion shoot to stardom after their youtube videos went haywire.

This youtube video appeared quietly about 4 months ago. It's young US teen Jonah Mowry talking about his experiences as a bullied gay lad in school.
He prefaced it with a message that he felt suicidal. It's a real tearjerker and thousands of followers linked to it and pretty soon Jonah had over 2 milliion hits and tens of thousands of 'likes' compared to a few hundred 'dislikes'.

Then the blogger Perez Hilton chipped in and pretty soon Jonah had thousands of twitter followers  and was becoming a media star. The US ABC network interviewed him and singer Ricky Martin tweeted “one big rib breaking hug :0) ! Stay strong buddy! You are 1 courageous young man!!!”.

An appearance on Ellen de Generes was surely soon to follow.

Now Jonah has a new video up were he appears to be fairly flippant about his previous claims and says he has 'thousands' of people at school who like him. The backlash is only just beginning as the video responses are posted on youtube giving young Jonah a roasting and claiming him to be a fake. What do think ?

Forget Planking-Airport Crossdressing All The Rage

Following our fashion report on the gentleman flying from San Francisco airport in a fetching bikini outfit, stockings and high heels, have we uncovered a new phenomena?.

Videos of crossdressers at airports are cropping up on youtube where it looks like a new craze is underway and we are in at the beginning !. Our man in SF is named Howard and as we suspected, is a businessman who simply likes to feel comfortable on his travels as he told the SF Chronicle yesterday.

Baby Boomers Turn Away Now

Not long ago he left for Los Angeles to pursue a career  and he has succeeded. Oddly, he's hardly known in his home country Australia but that's all about to change. Maybe this weekend.

14 year old Cody Simpson is back in town and today he will be at the Westfield shopping centre in Miranda at 3.30pm where he will sing. Get there early and take ear-plugs-we predict mega crowds and  screaming teen girls. On Sunday he will in Melbourne.

Cody was discovered by the usual route these days-YouTube. He comes from the Gold Coast in Queensland and he was a junior swimming champ before he took to the airwaves. He can sing, dance, write songs, play guitar-all the usual stuff and he has a really interesting charisma. This kid is going to be around for a long time.

A Star Is Born

TheMainMeal has his own youtube channel where he posts videos of his performances of well known songs.

They are mainly karaoke versions and he does pretty well-considering he has Tourette syndrome "characterised by multiple physical motor tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic; these tics characteristically wax and wane (all according to wikepedia)..."Tourette's was most often associated with the exclamation of obscene words or socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks".

TheMainMeal is for real and none of his movements in the video are put on. We think he's very brave presenting his music to the world and with his unique performance of Spandau Ballet's "Gold'.... he is a star!
