Bachelors Galore!

And so to the fabled Marquee nightclub that opened less than a month ago with "it" girl Paris Hilton and other assorted slebs like Will-I-Am.
A chance to see what all the hullabaloo was about. Not much so it seems and for our UK readers, put it this way, the decor challenged nightclub would never be a threat to Peter Stringfellow. Perhaps 1980s design is all the rage again.

Cleo Magazine was hosting it's famous Bachelor of The Year event which means plenty of beefcake and lots of pretty gals at a party organised by top publicist Roxy Jacenko.

The winner ?. Surfing chef Hayden Quinn, a very likable chap whose star continues to rise after his MKR appearances. And why not-so saleable. A surfer and a top chef. A winning combination.

One small hitch, the nightclub's escalator didn't work and was still out of action when the Shuttle left so a kindly bouncer escorted us through a rain swept walkway into a darkened theatre and pointed to an exit. Perhaps this was the legendary VIP entrance.

Marriage Made in Heaven

Chiswick Gardens in leafy Woollahra is one of the council's prime properties, surrounded as it is by the well heeled of the Eastern Suburbs and a stone's throw from the Consular district .

The restaurant in the gardens-Chiswick has lain dormant for some years now and after a long tender process the council has awarded the premises to one the countries best know chefs, Matt Moran and his business partner Peter Sullivan. It's a wise decision on the council's part and the pair have spent the last 18 months renovating the dining areas and adding their own vegetable garden to supply the kitchen with fresh produce.

Anyone who has dined at Matt's Aria restaurant right next door to the Sydney Opera House will know of Matt's superb culinary skills that have made Aria the first stop of choice for visiting celebrities and tourists.

Chiswick Gardens is a bit more laid back with it's polished floors, rustic tables and superb floor to ceiling windows that open onto the gardens giving the place a light and airy feeling. Prices are reasonable and it's guaranteed to become one of the area's most popular dining spots. On Tuesday they held a launch party for regular customers.

Men In Underwear

When celebrity chef Rick Stein married his long time girlfriend , Australian publicist Sarah Burns at the Icebergs restaurant in Bondi Beach just under three weeks ago, he said the restaurant had the "best view in the world".

He could have been referring to the Bonds underwear bash held there last week at the Iceberg's seaside swimming pool just beneath the restaurant.
While Bonds' flags adorned the balcony, on closer examination the bunting fluttering in the sea breezes turned out to be rows of men's knickers. As the breeze grew stronger many dislodged and were last seen heading for the cliff walkway which would have made a nice surprise for the early morning joggers the following day.

The shindig was to launch Bond's new range of quick dry undies for surfers and sportsmen and a surfing match was arranged for a number of hunky men to take part in including tennis ace Pat Rafter, footballer Mark Gasnier, Hayden Quinn, Nathan Joliffee and others.
Needless to say, plenty of  girls and quite a few blokes turned up to catch a glimpse of some dudes in briefs and tight wetsuits, muscles rippling and all that. The Shuttle just went to have a cold beer and get the gift bag that contained a few sets of the new undies. OK, admittedly we did have a little peek at the sportsmen, purely for aesthetic reasons but restrained ourselves from asking how these chaps achieve such tight butts, a subject of much discussion amongst the party guests.

nice spot for a party-the Icebergs.
