Booted by Wikipedia

It's a sad day when one of Britain's top selling newspapers gets told by the on-line encyclopedia
Wikipedia to clear out their desk and leave the premises. The Daily Mail has been told that it can be no longer be used as a reliable source although Whispers feels quite a few British tabloids could well receive the same treatment.
We here are quite fond of the Mail even if they do nick the odd story from us. We've also made a habit of posting our regular Daily Mail Fails such as this ripper when they reported on the sad death of comedienne Tracey Ullman's mother. In the photo caption they claimed (in several editions) that the lady accompanying Ullman was her mother when in fact it was Australian actress Nell Campbell of Rocky Horror Film fame. The fact both women appeared to be of similar age seems to have eluded the editor.
Alas the curse of Daily Mail Fail has struck again on the very day they get their marching orders from Wikipedia.

In this story about the sad death of British society identity Tara Palmer -Tomkinson they make some strange mistakes, firstly claiming Palmer-Tomkinson's body had been discovered by her "Portuguese cleaner" and then just a paragraph later claiming her body had been discovered by a 'friend'.
Mind you, perhaps her Portuguese maid was a close friend.

Still, who are we to cast stones. There's probably a blog somewhere compiling some of our corkers.

Daily Mail Fail

It's all the rage with newspapers these days- firing sub-editors and while they do the bloopers keep piling up. The latest is this  tragic story about comedian Tracey Ullman whose mother sadly passed away in a house-fire. To illustrate the news the UK Daily Mail has used a photograph they label as Tracey and her mother Doreen Skinner,
Alas the photo is actually of Tracey and Australian actress Little Nell who starred in the film of the Rocky Horror Show. Nell and Tracey are about the same age as is evident in the picture.

A World First-Online Movie Premiere

Reese Witherspoon & Robert Pattinson
st Friday's premiere
Attending the launch of Water for Elephants at the State Theatre last night was always bound to be a gruelling affair.

Especially with the film's stars , the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon and heart throb Robert Pattinson in attendance. Pandemonium duly broke out with police having to hold back dozens of wailing teenage girls demanding a piece of Pattinson.

How refreshing then to see the first on-line launch of a new movie Me Me Me written and produced by pop impresario Jonathan King (left)

It's the tale of mysterious drawings and graffiti that appear all over London ala Banksy and signed Baby Draw. A London tabloid work experience journalist is sent by the editor to track down the perpetrator of the art works and when she finds him-a good looking lad named Johnny Bambino (played by Henry Stansall) they embark on a love affair. After the trainee hackette pens an article about Bambino, he becomes a huge pop star

The movie pokes fun at much of the current shallow celebratory obsessed society and there's a nice twist at the end. It's a colourful and light hearted musical-the producers describe it as :
"The Rocky Horror Show meets Mamma Mia"
From the opening song Don't Let Him Touch You by The Angelettes (performed by The Sirens)
 the pace never lets up.

And amazingly-it's a freebie !. You can watch it on-line or download ( as we did) and play it on your large flat screen with the sound at top level. You'll love it !

Watch or download Me Me Me at the movie's website .
Here are The Sirens with Don't Let Him Touch You.

Nell & Matilda Rose at Myer

(the Social Shuttle crew are so ancient we actually attended the opening night of the original stage version in Kings Road, London. Fortunately we'll be able to get to the cinema via our free pensioner bus pass)

.We also present our picture of one of the stars of the film-Little Nell (Nell Campbell) who played Columbia.in the film. Nell went on to run one of New York's most popular nightclubs for many years before returning to Oz.

Nell attended the Myer fashion show last week with her charming daughter Matilda Rose.
