Saddle Up !

George and Thomas Burgess, a couple of GGs & their jockeys
It's that time of the year - Spring which means the Spring Summer racing season at Royal Randwick is upon us. Race days are like a melting pot of society where all manner of colourful characters, celebrities, socialites, sport's stars and fashion names gather to mingle, socialise and gamble on the horses.
Highlights of the season will be the Star Epsom Day and the Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day with pop-up champer's bars, disc jockeys and a good reason to dress up for the day, the Myer Fashions in The Field. Randwick threw a shindig to launch the season and here are some of our snaps from the event.

Battle of the Super Models

We really do love the department store David Jones. Especially when they keep having fashion shows with acres of flesh (skinny flesh of course). Thus on Thursday night we battled through the late night shoppers to ooh & ahhh over the delectable models Jessica Gomez and Joan Smalls who jetted in for the night.
The occasion was DJ's launch of the fashion label Studio W which is now available at all the DJ's stores. below are some of the fab fashions on show and some of the ringside guests. Hey, it's a job but someone has to do it!

Tom's Woes

At the Zegna party : Luke Ricketson,Kate Waterhosue, Hoda & Tom Waterhouse
Arriving at the gala Emermenigildo Zegna 50th year celebration fashion parade at the Royal Hall of Industries on Tuesday, top bookmaker Tom Waterhouse was his cheery smiling self, shaking hands and implacable as always, even as the Shuttle greeted him with "ahhh..the infamous Tom Waterhouse". It received a hearty laugh from his group that included lovely wife and new mother Hoda, sister  Kate Waterhouse and he husband footballer Luke Ricketson.

But if Tom didn't have enough troubles with all sorts of inaccurate claims flying about the airwaves about his on-screen appearances at racing meets, a new calamity has just hit the fan.
Tom's Instagram post.
Yesterday media mogul John Singleton had an on-air spat with Tom's mum, the successful racehorse trainer Gai Waterhouse and accused her of 'leaking' information about his horse More Joyous to son Tom.
"Not so" says Gai but Singleton stormed off announcing he would pull all his horses from Gai's stables. Such drama, especially as Gai has successfully trained numerous winners for Singleton over the years.

Singleton says Gai leaked details that his top nag More Joyous wasn't in top form to Tom and mutual friends repeated the claim back to Singleton  who then refrained from placing $100,000 on his own horse to win. Tom says via Instagram, he was taking bets all day on More Joyous and it was business as usual and he lost around $300,000 on the race.
Instant update : The matter goes from bad to worse : Tom has called in the libel lawyers and racing officials are demanding an Independent Inquiry before a retired judge. Where is Sir Laurence Street when we need him?

Deep Thoughts with Georgia May Jagger in Melbourne

Most people think their parents are daggy. Did you?

Georgia May Jagger :

I totally did and I still think that! People say all the time, 'Your dad is so cool,' but I'm like, 'But they're my parents and they cringe me out all the time.' For me, they are not super-cool because, like, mum is really obsessed with, like, nerdy stuff. She loves her chicken farming, she even reads books about chickens and raising chickens and I always poke fun at her about that. My dad is actually a bit of a history buff.

I always cringe when my parents are on the dance floor. . .

Yes, it's pretty funny when dad gets on the dance floor because he has got such a, like, I don't know how to describe his moves but let's just say he doesn't go unnoticed, you know what I mean?
