It's a fast growing trend amongst young people marrying in the current financial climate. Guests are asked to give money instead of presents-preferably hard cold cash.
The Shuttle attended one such wedding 6 weeks ago and noticed one member from either side of the wedding parties sat at a desk taking contributions. It was announced during speeches that the money would pay for the honeymoon- a trip abroad.
Last week we saw the new groom out and about and inquired how the holiday had gone. "Oh we decided not to bother" he said "the wife got a boob job instead ".
