guest reviewer-Barry McKenzie

The Shuttle can't be in every place at the same time, try as we might. Into the breach steps singer, actor and theatre fanatic Barry Crocker AM who has agreed to be our resident theatre critic.

Shuttlers will recall Barry once played Barry McKenzie superbly in the films based on the famous Private Eye magazine comic strip based on the character created by Barry Humphries, manager of Dame Edna Everage. (above). A newspaper in a small African country delightfully once reported Dame Edna was "Australia's Governor General and HRH The Queen's representative".
Barry popped over to the Ensemble Theatre to see 2 friends performing..his review follows...

What a privilege it was to sit in an audience observing two old mates having the time of their lives, in the Australian premiere of the new Peter Quilter Farcical Romp, “DUETS”.  Here Noeline Brown, and Barry Creyton, get the chance to play four very diverse characters in this four act play. (Two in each half).  The joy that emanates across the footlights can’t help but drag the audience into their revelry, as they toy with each other, in their respective roles. Watching these two professionals in full flight is like taking a ride in a Rolls Royce. All class, Four stars!

It's the first time Creyton and Brown have worked together since Creyton returned from the USA where he has lived for 15 years. The last time the pair appeared together was on the TV show Blankety Blanks compered by Australia's first King of TV , the late Graeme Kennedy (above) .
Crocker was accompanied by friend Jenny Main  while his charming live-in companion Katy Manning Foxtel presenter, former Dr Who star and a life-long former school pal of Liza Minelli is working on a project in the UK.
